How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
Now comes the *real* reason for creating this blog, to give my thoughts on a book I finished not too long ago.
I'm not even sure when the first time was made aware of this book's ecistence, but I had no idea how.. prolific (?) book's life has been. I think the book was originally published in the 1930s sometime after Carnegie had already established himself as a successful program for business people teaching them how to achieve the same kind of success he's achieved.
Overall, the book does well.. I've applied some principles from the book in my life and some I've already been using. Many of the ideas in there book are relatively timeless.. I mean, he's dealing with human nature, so most of it seems straightforward once you read it.
It did get quite laughable when I got to the last chapter though when he started talking about what should be done during the marriage. While I am not yet married.. I can still see most of the last chapter is *quite* out of date.
Up next: Hitch-22, Christopher Hitchens' autobiography.
Welcome to undecidid!
Hey guys.
For the three people who may have looked at my other blog(print_r) which was created to be kind of a programming/techie blog.. This will be kind of a departure from that format cuz I'm not really programming anymore.
My interests lately stem from the more metaphysical end of things dealing with philosophy, religion, and politics.
I've also started reading more and I kinda wanted to make a central repository where I may catalog books, movies, and shows I read/watch.. Including possible reviews of them. Dunno what I'm going to be using this space for exactly yet.
I'll also skip the required "about me" schpiel for now since those who may care about that already know it.
